Why when I click on the firefox icon on desktop instead of getting the Firefox banner I have a ask.com page? I have deleted the cookies and blocked ask.com but still it is ask.com when I click on Mozilla Firefox for browsing..what can I do?

this was also happening when I click on internet explorer icon, then the ask.com page appears and has no way to delete or remove it. It sorta barged in on both Mozilla and Internet Explorer. I had to default to the google home page to remove it on clicking on Internet Explorer....but with Mozilla I have been unable to do that as Mozilla is not my default browser. Do you all know that ask.com is doing these things? I tell you it really defeats any trust in using computers when your selected browsers are overrun by an intrusive company that is also known for browsing. This just happened today for first time and hopefully won't happen again after I learn how to remove it. They (ask.com) may be a good company but they surely are getting known for intrusive behaviour online , as I saw that they are doing this to others.

Hi,

Check in Add-ons to see if you have any toolbars installed:

Uninstalling add-ons

Because the Ask Toolbar (a custom version I think) is sometimes installed (or offered to be installed) with other programs, such as Foxit Reader.
