After updating Firefox as well as all add-ons I can't load any of the gps-tracking sites at http://www.tulospalvelu.fi/gps/. The maps starts loading and stops anywhere between 8 and 75%...

I don't hav a clue what might be wrong since the site works fine at my "older" PC with older plugin add-on and browser versions...

There seems to be a similar problem with routes at http://www.swiss-orienteering.ch/binperl/reitti.cgi

Those two sites use a Java applet to display the maps.

It works for me with Java 6 update 35. I don't have Java 7 installed, so I don't know if the applets work with the version.

Do the Java test pages confirm that Java is working?

Also check that you haven't set the plugins.click_to_play pref to true on the about:config page as that can cause problems with some plugins.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
