Asks computer to be restarted to complete a previous upgrade
I am currently using version 16.0.1 / .2. After updating to .2, Firefox some how reverts back to .1. I have read all the different articles I could find here and via Google about the message to reboot the computer to complete a previous upgrade. I have tried to delete folders, and do a manual install of 16.0.2 - it reverted back to .1, auto updated, and asked for reboot. I looked for the different files mentioned in all of the articles and could not find them.
I AM able to use Firefox a few times. Then, it will ask for the computer to be rebooted. After reboot, I can again use Firefox a few times. And sooner or later, when I click on the Firefox icon, it was ask for the computer be rebooted. Between reboots, I keep checking the version. And it fluctuates between .1 and .2.
I am using Windows7, Svc Pk 1. I am designated as an administrator on this computer.
Thanks for your help.

Do you have more than one Firefox process running? Check in Task Manager under Processes.
Thank you for your reply.
I only have one Firefox process running. I also checked for a Firefox update process and did not see that running.
I failed to mention above that I am using the 64 bit version of Windows 7.
Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Some security software has virtualization or sandbox features that may cause problems by protecting and restoring files.
Did you try to delete the Firefox program folder and possibly reboot the computer to be sure that all files were removed?
- (64 bit Windows) C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\
Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
Thank you for your reply. I am using MS Security Essentials as my antivirus. I am not sure if I rebooted after deleting the Mozilla folder before trying the clean re-install. Will have to try that next.
Thanks for your help.
Rebooting shouldn't be necessary at any time since this always indicates that other (security?) software if having a handle on one or more Firefox files.
You will have to check if the Firefox program folder is still gone and wasn't recovered after the reboot.

Which firewall do you have?
Does it has advanced features?
Thank you for continuing to assist me.
I use the standard firewall that comes with Windows. No special settings or exceptions.
