Menu font unreadable

more options

I've had this problem before. It resolved itself but has cropped up again. This happens w/FFox, Nightly 64bit and Waterfox.

The problem is that menu items, including items in the bookmark toolbar, are unreadable. When I click a menu, or use the KB, the menu scrolls down and the font is so small that it is unrecognizable. Sometimes the font will be normal size but when you navigate the menu the font will change from OK to unreadable. If you move the mouse around the menu the font will sometimes pop back to normal. Sometimes using the KB to navigate the menu will work, sometimes it's just like the mouse.

  • this is NOT a font size issue. No add on will help. Not a theme/style problem*

I'm running Win 7 home. I have....completely scrubbed FFox off my computer. Uninstall every version, delete the Mozilla folder. The only thing I didn't do (just thought of it now) was delete registry entries. I have DL'd a fresh copy of FFox and Wfox and the problem still exists w/no add ons.

In the last thread on the subject, now closed, I was told to mess with the True Type fonts but when I went to do it the option didn't seem to be there.

hello. this sounds like an issue with hardware acceleration - please try updating your graphics driver, or in case this doesn't solve the issue or there is no new version available at the moment, disable hardware acceleration in firefox > options > advanced > general.

YES> FINALLY!!! Hardware Acceleration did it.

What I'm losing by not using the H.A.?

Thank you so much.

hardware acceleration might give you better performance/loading times in certain situations.

have you tried it with HWA on and a newer version of your graphics driver? this should be the right link for your system: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows%207%20-%2064

I have not. Windows said the drivers were up to data but I'm checking the newer catalyst. I'll let you know.

HWA seems to be working for now...going to put my add-ons back on and see what happens.

Thanks again, this was driving me crazy.

OK. Got the new Catalyst Center. Everything started getting screwy. MASSIVE CPU lag and massive slow down using browsers. I uninstalled CC, which presumably, left the new display drivers.

OK...weird things are now happening w/Ffox (32). Sometimes when I try to open Ffox my whole pc will freeze. This has never happened before. I guess I could roll back the drivers and turn HWA off. I don't think I can run the mozilla 'system query' thing again. The app that showed my PCs hardware and drivers.

So, was sitting in W7 just using Excel. I've rebooted 10 times today easily. Clicked Ffox and boom another locked PC. Takes about 20-30 seconds for it to lockup. Very weird behavior. Rebooted and clicked on the link for this thread in Outlook and it opened just fine.
