Twitter simply stopped working on Firefox, and nothing has worked to fix it. This issue has been going on for the better part of a year, and it's exhausting as well as frustrating. I'm using the most current update of Firefox. I've tried all the "band-aid" solutions: I've cleared my cache and cookies. I've tried the Safe Mode. I've shut down extensions, etc. I changed the do not track option to do not tell sites anything about tracking me. The only extension I am using is Session Manager, which I've been using all along and it never caused a problem regarding Twitter usage. I tried shutting Session Manager down too, but the problems on Twitter persisted. I can't tweet. I can't scroll. I can't favorite. I can't even use settings to log in or out.
My homepage does not show the reply box on the left side. When I click it, a box opens. But it has little dots as borders, not solid lines. When I type in letters, they are grey. No "tweet" or "reply" button pops up. When I try to click on the little spiky wheel to get to settings in the upper right hand corner, nothing happens. It just sits there staring at me without any change. Same with any attempts to favorite, etc. When I try to scroll my timeline, I get that dreaded spinning grey wheel.
Also, I noticed that when attempting to scroll timelines, not only do I get that dreaded spinning grey wheel, sometimes just the grey bird shows up, and only after scrolling down once. And this is on a timeline holding thousands of tweets. So none of them can be read beyond the first page!
In addition to the above issues, strangers have been forcing follows on my Twitter timeline. It's really scary. I've been blocking/reporting them for spam using other browsers. I also changed my password using another browser, but now I cannot even sign in to Twitter on Firefox. I have to use Firefox for other reasons, or I would have gone to another browser for everything by now. I've contacted Twitter about it, though they continue to make finding a way to reach Twitter Support with a support request extremely difficult.
Please help.
Thank you.
I'm using a Mac desktop, version 10.9.1

With regards to the unexplained followers on your Twitter account, this could be due to a malicious plugin or extenstion in Firefox, or on your computer.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Thank you kindly for your response, Yousef.
I have a Mac, however. But thank you again.
Hi Kcat, did you get a chance to try a new profile? This would work around any odd settings that we haven't thought of. If Twitter works in the new profile, we can assist in getting your bookmarks and other critical data copied over.
I don't have personal experience creating a new profile on Mac, but here's the general idea.
Create a new Firefox profile
A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager as described in the following article: Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles.
Any time you want to switch between profiles, exit Firefox and repeat that process.
You'll click the Create Profile button. I recommend using the default location suggested, i.e., do not pick a folder yourself. Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
Twitter functional??
When returning to the Profile Manager to run your normal profile, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.
