when installing I clicked options and made sure the box that says, install firefox in the start menu was clicked but no matter how many times I install the folder in the start menu doesnt populate, I can still open firefox and use it as there is a icon short cut on the desktop but after a while this ico will break and change to a broken Icon even if I sent to tast bar

Try scan your PC, maybe this problem is caused by a malware:

This is on my work computer and I just reimaged it as well as reinstalled a reset version of firefox, no matter what I do for some reason the app doesnt write to the reg for those folders in start then all programs there should be a modzilla folder containing the firefox.exe but there is no folder at all, I wonder If I can look into the reg keys that firefox creates maybe its in there somewhere

Did you try to create a shortcut manually with Windows Explorer in the start menu folder?

This can be in the "All Users\Start Menu" folder or in the "Start Menu" folder of a specific user.
