I'm not a computer guy, but easy enough to install thunder bird and lightning. Very simple. email works just fine. Calender seems to be local only. Does nothing when syncing. No errors, no notice, just doesn't sync. guess I'm the only person using hotmail. No posts at all. What am I missing? Not a clue what all those server addresses are or protocols, the email setup effortlessly, set itself up. I really like the calender, smokes the email account calenders. Would like to use it-HELP

Sync of your calendar requires Microsoft of work with internet standards, in this case CALDAV. Microsoft have a 20 year or more inability to work with standards, apparently interoperability is not a goal at Microsoft.

So either use Microsoft products to talk to Microsoft web sites, or Use a procider that can work with web standards. Yahoo and Google are the obvious others.

Make sure to request CALDAV from Microsoft however, they will not learn their customers are unhappy if you do not tell them
