The newest update of firefox adds a search box to the bookmarks tool bar, which cannot be removed. I don't need nor want this search box, especially in my bookmarks tool bar. It blocks some of my bookmarks. Also, the removal of the status bar causes the buttons from my add ons to be in the bookmarks tool bar, further blocking my bookmarks.

And of course there is an address bar that takes up two thirds of the top of the page on the menu bar. Previously I consolidated all of my search bar and add on buttons in that space, but I can no longer do so. (and yes, I know that search box and the address bar do the same thing)

Why does firefox need to keep screwing with the interface, and copy internet explorer's crappy interface? It was fine before and even if you feel you need to dictate how people's interface will be, why remove the option for people to customize it?

If firefox is going to dictate how my interface is set up, I will just switch to Chrome.

I had to use internet explorer to access this forum, since firefox wouldn't acknowledge my clicks.

Sounds that you are opening the bookmarks sidebar via the "View Bookmarks Sidebar" item in the "Show All Bookmarks" drop-down list ("Show All Bookmarks" is the toolbar button on the Navigation Toolbar next to the star to bookmark the current web page).
You can find the "Show All Bookmarks" item to open the Bookmarks Manager (Library) at the bottom of that drop-down list.
You should be able to drag the search bar to the Customize palette if you do not want to use this toolbar. You can't (re)move the location bar unless you install the Classic Theme Restorer extension.
