I have moved my Thunderbird profile to MyCloud and it is painfully slow launching. Performs fine once launched.

I decided to move everything to MyCloud and all works fine exept Thunderbird can take upwards of 30 seconds or more to launch. Firefox is a bit sluggish as well, but both perform fine once running. I am on the latest versions of each.

your lucky either work. If your question is about them being sluggish, the answer is simple, get an internet connection with the same or better bandwidth as your hard drive has. Something in the order of 1.5 Gigabits per second

It's only sluggish when launching the app. After that it performs fine. Would 1.5 Gigabits make any difference if Comcast is only offering 100Mbps?

When you load Thunderbird is must load a lot of data. All of that data must come over a sluggish wire from a remote location. At the risk of sounding trite, what your doing is about the equivalent of filling an Olympic swimming pool with a bucket. when what is needed is a fire hose. When you actually have to compact your inbox and that 1Gb file is fetched and then returned the application will be very slow for a long time, and not just loading.

Comcast can not give you the speed you need, it may well be all the bandwidth they have going to your city. It is the equivalent of a fiber connection to the cloud location.
