I've created a sync account so that my laptop and desktop can share bookmarks, history, etc., but every time I launch FF, I get the yellow bar at the bottom of windows saying:

"Sync encountered an error while syncing: Incorrect account name or password. Sync will automatically retry this action."

I go into my sync preferences and manually log into sync. It seems fine. It tells me that syncing will begin.

Stuff syncs.

Then if I have to relaunch firefox, the same thing happens. Why is it not storing the password?

This happens on both laptop and desktop, which are Macs on Yosemite running Firefox 35.0.

See if changing the password helps.

I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.

I've changed it twice. No luck.

Same problem here, trying to sync only bookmarks and history between two Win7 PCs. No matter how many time I disconnect and reconnect the sync account, change its password, start FF in Safe Mode, and/or delete my signedInUser.json file (per a suggestion in a similar thread), the problem reappears every time I restart FF.

Interestingly, when I disconnect and then reconnect the sync account, FF knows and prefills the email account for me on the connect screen. Where is it storing that? Perhaps an incorrect or old password is being stored in the same place?

Hi jetkins

What Firefox version are you using?

You posted in a thread about an older Firefox 35 version.

Could you please start a new thread for your question?

Then you can provide more information like your operating system and installed extensions and installed plugins.
