unable to select ANY previous searches within my default google search bar. my search suggestions works correctly...that's NOT my problem. EVERY time i want to go back to a previous google search, i have to re-type. selecting the down arrow in the google toolbar doesn't display a search LIST like it did in IE. of course, in IE, you use an actual google downloaded toolbar. in firefox it's not the same. very annoying and time consuming to have to re-type google searches. thank you !

Is this about the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar or search bars on the about:home or about:newtab pages?

The latter two use autocomplete=off and thus won't save search terms that you have types. For the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar you need to enable saving form data.
