Hibernate and password prompt

Before: 1. When I would close the lid on my laptop, a small green light would start blinking within 10 to 15 seconds. I think the laptop would then be in hibernate mode. 2. When I leave the lid open but leave the computer for 10 mins. to 1 hour, there would always be a password prompt when I returned to the laptop.

After: 1. The laptop never goes into hibernate mode. The small green light is always on. When I open the laptop the full screen appears and there is no password prompt.

Is my laptop vulnerable? I worry that it is wide open to the web.

hi suecperrier, this doesn't sound like a problem with firefox in particular and since things like hibernating or login screens are controlled by your operating system you'll probably have to consult ubuntu's support at http://community.ubuntu.com/help-information/ to get an answer about that. thank you for your understanding!
