When I try to change Bible versions I continue to get the following message. A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue.

Script: resource://gre/modules/addons/XPIProvider.jsm -> jar:file:///C:/Users/Mitch/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/owxr3ujs.default/extensions/firefox@passwordbox.com.xpi!/bootstrap.js -> resource://gre/modules/commonjs/toolkit/loader.js -> resource://gre/modules/commonjs/sdk/loader/sandbox.js -> resource://firefox-at-passwordbox-dot-com/passwordbox/data/js/content-script.js:29361 I tried to debug the script but it will not do it. Hope you can help

Does the page use Flash? If so, normally there would be a plugin notification icon in the address bar that looks like a small Lego block.

One reason for frequent slow script errors is the protected mode feature of the Flash player plugin. The Protected Mode feature has security benefits, but seems to have compatibility issues on some systems. You can disable it by creating or editing a settings file. The following pages/posts provide different approaches for that:

Flash needs to completely unload from memory (exiting and starting Firefox up again might help) before this takes effect.

Any improvement?

Are you are getting the identical script error every time, referring to PasswordBox? If so, you might check with them and see whether there is an update for their add-on or they have another solution.

I thank you for trying to help me. I don't use McAfee so I don't think that suggestion would apply. The other suggestion is way beyond my expertise so I guess I am just going to live with the problem. Again, thanks so much for trying to help.

When you say you don't use McAfee, could you check something for me.

The script error references an add-on named PasswordBox. If you don't actually use PasswordBox, please disable that extension on the Add-ons page (either):

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then look for PasswordBox on the right side and click its Disable button. You might look for anything else unfamiliar or nonessential and disable that, too.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Does that help reduce the problem?

I do use Password Box. Since I use it I am concerned about doing what you say. I don't want to disable it. Thanks for your help

I have been told that one has to be 2% smarter than what he/she is working with. I fall into that category of not being 2% smarter than this computer. Thanks again for your help.

When I looked up support for PasswordBox, I got that McAfee support page. So if this issue continues, please try that support in this post: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1055615#answer-713281

Thanks for your continued patience with me. I think the 2% rule I referred to is in effect. I have other sources for Bibles that do not give me this problem. I think it is time to say that you gave it your best effort. I thank you for your patience with me.

Okay, assuming you're not the only person with this issue, if you just keep PasswordBox up-to-date, perhaps it will get solved down the road in an update.

You have been SO PATIENT with me. Thank you for at least trying to help this computer illiterate individual.
