How can I change the setting so that I don't see the message showing which cookies have been removed in the lower right of my screen?

I have been using Duck Duck go for my search engine for over a year, but I find that the cookies-tracking message in the lower right part of my screen is distracting. I have changed my default search engine back to Google and I am still receiving the messages. Can I keep Duck Duck go without the messages? Also please confirm steps to change the default search engine. Thanks
