After the latest update, FIrefox will not connect. Internet Explorer works fine. I have an HP PC running Windows 8. I have already tried rebooting; uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox; and deleting and re-adding Firefox to my firewall exceptions. Suggestions?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.

Thanks for responding. Although I booted up in "Safe Mode with network support," I still had no connection to the internet. I see that other users have reported this same problem. In any event, it prevents me from testing out Firefox in safe mode. Any other suggestions?

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
