IMAP local folders still appear in folder view
I just switched from POP to IMAP in Tbird with earthlink as my ISP. It seems to be working well now but that leaves a question
when I go into tools, accounts I see my IMAP account with the outgoing server list. But under that account I see Local Folders with the smtp settings nested under that. In Tbird I see the all the folders listed under my IMAP account name but also see Local Folders with all of its folders listed under it. Back in account settings I click on Local Folders and then click on account actions but 'remove account' is grayed out. when I go into %APPDATA% and Thunderbird I see a default folder with a weird name: snjybqrk.default with todays date and then 4 other accounts listed below it with the same snjybqrk but with -AsOf[08-11-15@1413 in each of those profiles there is a ImapMail folder and a Mail folder. Under Mail folder there is a Local Folders folder, a pop folder and a smart maiboxes folder. Question is should I just delete the Mail folder and be done with it leaving just the ImapMail folder?

re :Question is should I just delete the Mail folder and be done with it leaving just the ImapMail folder? NO. 'Local Folders' is a default mail account and you cannot remove it. It contains the 'Outbox' which is used by all mail accounts.
If you need to get any emails off an imap server, but not delete them, then Local Folders account is where you can store them.

snjybqrk.default is your profile folder name. What you do not say is where you are looking. It seems very odd to have several profile fodler names with various dates. Thunderbird keeps Profiles here: Appdata > Roaming > Thunderbird not Appdata > Local > thunderbird.
Yes. I meant Appdata Roaming Thunderbird.. then under Profiles is where I see those snjybqrk.default folders
