My problem is that I want websites to open to the full size of my 17" screen but with my tool bars showing. I was able to accomplish this by using "file exit" to save the settings so some websites open as previously expanded. However, this now no longer works for some sites so now I have some sites (my hope page of course) opening small and others opening too large. How can I restore some consistency to page size and have the pages fill my 17" screen without constantly having to adjust the size?

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

  • do not clear the Site Preferences
  • Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.
  • Clearing Cookies will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you want to keep.

Try to rename (or delete) the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.

Hi, Firefox should remember your zoom setting for each site, so try changing it on a per site basis (Ctrl and + key, or Ctrl and - key). More - Font size and zoom - increase the size of web pages.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

In the recent past Firefox did remember when I resized websites, however it now does not remember for some sites, they used to open at the correct size but no longer do. Additionally, one page opens larger than I resize it and another opens in the narrow way which does not fill my 17" screen. Of course the malfunctioning website is my home page.
