Running Windows 7, Firefox version 43.0.3 I cannot close or minimize the browser using the mouse and the buttons to the upper right. The function is restored briefly when I start the browser in safe mode, but ceases when I open a tab. I have refreshed Firefox and the problem persists. All other mouse functions are normal and correct; I can switch tabs, open links, etc. When I clicked on "about firefox" to check my version number, I found that I could no longer close the popup window by clicking on the "x". Something is radically wrong here.

More information about this problem. I find now that when I have another app floating atop the browser window, it is possible to access the buttons and close the window. Also, when I open the browser history and try to click on a link, the entire history window disappears without making the link.

Let's try a full re-install.

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then;

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox folders by adding .old to them.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.

Thanks. A re-install was going to be my last resort, but I would not have thought about renaming the folders. I will try it. Any idea as to why it would go whackadoodle on me all of a sudden?
