I have Firefox set to open with Google as my default search engine. Yet, each time I open Firefox a message from Google is displayed that asks if I want to make Google my default search engine even though its already set as the default. I click "no thanks" and move on, but it is annoying to receive the notice when I'm already looking at the Google search page. I've emailed Google support multiple times, but have never received a response. Do you have a suggestion?

Hi rickaye, I understand that you would like to stop seeing a pop up to make Google your default search engine, even after you have already done this. I am happy to help.

This is due to a cookie not being present on the page. Try to allow cookies just for that google search page.

  1. Right click on the web page
  2. Select "Show Page Info"
  3. Make sure under the permissions tab that cookies are allowed and not checked "default"

Did it help?
