In Options, under the Privacy tab, under Location Bar, I DESELECT History, Bookmarks and Open Tabs. I then close the Options window (which is supposed to automatically save my settings.) But when I start to type in the Location Bar, I'm still getting a dropdown saying, "Search with Google." I have DESELECTED the "Provide search suggestions" and "Show search suggestions in location bar results" in the Options>Search tab.

Further, if I close Firefox, the next time I open it, all three Location Bar settings (History, Bookmarks and Open Tabs) are SELECTED again!

This only started after I refreshed Firefox. Prior to that, I was getting NO Location Bar dropdown ever, which is what I want.

Why isn't Firefox remembering my Location Bar settings (it seems to remember everything else) and how can I make the location Bar show NO dropdown bar, including the "Search with Google" dropdown?

Keazen oplossing

You can set browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete to false to remove the Visit page suggestion from the location bar drop down list.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Thank you. I read the documentation and set browser.urlbar.autocomplete.enabled to false and browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete to false and that solved my problem.

That is, when I'm in Firefox and begin to type in the address bar, NO dropdown of any sort shows up.

AND, with those set, now when I enter Firefox, the options under OPTIONS>PRIVACY>TOOLBAR are all blank. I believe there is a bug in the latest version, because when I clear those settings in OPTIONS (without making changes in "about:config") they do NOT persist when I closse and restart Firefox.

Thanks for the reply.
