I have POP chosen - If I untick the "leave messages on server", will thunderbird delete messages it has already downloaded or only new ones?

I'm looking for thunderbird to now delete everything it has downloaded and continue downloading and removing from the server.

Pop downloads and you can set it to leave a copy on server until you delete or for a time. If you would move all messages in inbox some were else they would be marked to be deleted and consequently deleted from server. I'm unsure, as you are, if unchecking will delete all historical messages. But that easy to check and correct, just login using webmail.

EDIT I made that check and it does delete old ones but not until you get a new mail.

Well I have unticked it - and I am getting new emails - and the new emails and the old emails are still on the server. (and yes it is POP not IMAP :)

Who is your mail server-provider?

Thanks - I didn't expect to have to override it from the server side!
