Sorry, I'm not very technical but Thunderbird starting asking for my hotmail password out of the blue. I am entering my Microsoft password, which I think is what I'm meant to do. This works to sign in to my Microsoft account separately. I have removed any stored passwords from Thunderbird. I also logged in to my Microsoft account and ticked 'yes' to allow POP accounts. It still asks for the password. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Go to https://outlook.live.com/owa/ and log in to your hotmail account there, using its email address and associated password.

If you have downloaded old messages to Thunderbird then you'll have to look at them in Thunderbird. But new messages, if you leave them in the webmail site, will become available to Thunderbird if/when Microsoft fix their email services.

See my problem. I reckon it may be same problem. Apparently a lot of hotmail, accounts are currently affected. Have a look at http://downdetector.com/status/outlook

Hi, I'm not sure if there are any further updates. I am still having the same problem. I am using Thunderbird and am just repeatedly asked to re-enter the password for my hotmail account. Even if this can't be fixed, I would really like to be able to access my hotmail messages. Could someone explain how I can do this? I can access Outlook through the web but I'm not sure how to set it up to received my messages - I don't want to move all my emails to Outlook as they are currently all set up for Thunderbird. Is there any other way?
