tb 4.5.1 downloads emails BUT will not send. when i click send, an 'enter credentials for gmail' panel pops up wanting me to log into my gmail account. when i do, i get a nonsense screen talking about cookies (my cookies are turned on) and when i click to close the gmail logon, the message goes into never-never land. this started happening with the LAST set of thunderbird updates.

This isn't a 'nonsense screen'. Verify you do allow cookies for https://accounts.google.com in Thunderbird.

it appears that the last set of thunderbird updates CHANGED the cookie setting AND SOME OTHERS. i corrected them now everything works. and PLEASE. any panel that does not explain itself and requires jumping to conclusions or making assumptions is a nonsense screen. NOWHERE on this screen does it bother saying that cookies need to be enabled. as a matter of fact, most of the links on said screen DO NOT WORK.
