Please see Password Manager - Remember, delete and edit logins and passwords in Firefox and try updating the password there directly.
Kindly let us know if this solves your question.
Remove any old information from the Password Manager.
You can check the Password Manager to see if you have saved the correct passwords. Note that you can double-click a user name or password in the Password Manager to edit this item. You can also do this via the right-click context menu.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
- Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Clear the cache and remove the cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).
"Clear the cache":
- Firefox/Options/Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove the cookies" from websites that cause problems.
- Firefox/Options/Preferences -> Privacy -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If there are still problems with saving passwords then it is possible that there is a problem with the logins.json (encrypted names and passwords) and key3.db (encryption key and master password) files that store password data in Firefox. You can open the logins.json file in the Scratchpad (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) to check its content. Click the "Pretty Print" button to format the file for readability. If there are names and encrypted passwords in logins.json then there is likely a problem with the key3.db file that stores the encryption key. You can rename the key3.db file (key3.db.old) and logins.json file (logins.json.old) or move these files to another folder to make it possible to undo the action.
