Recently, thunderbird has begun a troublesome feature that allows one to drag and drop text or letters from one place to another, rather than re-typing them. This is very annoying, and I would like to turn it off, as is possible in my word processor. How can i turn off this very UNHELPFUL feature?

I thought Thunderbird had always supported this drag-and-drop mode. I don't consider it a new development. And I don't know of any switch to disable it.
So that has me wondering why it has become more bothersome to you. I suppose some subtle timing change may have happened. But if anyone reports the mouse doing unexpected things, my first suggestion would be to try a new mouse.
