The last two updates of Firefox (yesterday and day before) prevented Google Sheets in Google Drive from working at all; they were designed and used in Firefox.

The spreadsheet shows a popup saying "Working" which then disappears and then returns. It then disappears again and displays another popup saying "Unable to load file Try to load it again or send an error report. Reload"

A shareable URL for "Viewing Only" of a failing Spreadsheet is: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14aaTvfek9VnkeyeGUmKA5L1akwgjfj0QuQO7j8EwL9Y/edit?usp=sharing

Your advice has been extremely helpful. I have now identified that the Flashblock extension was the culprit using your method to find the correlation.

I have removed Flashblock and the Spreadsheet now works. Also, the conspicuous CPU consumption that firefox was causing seems to have disappeared.

Things look good for now. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your prompt and thorough advice in troubleshooting.

Thank you very much!!!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Are you having a connection problem with just your BP? What about the rest of the internet?

Yes, this was helpful. When I started Firefox in "Safe Mode", the spreadsheet worked as before. I don't really have any other Sheets that I use routinely right now.

I have a number of plugins and extensions that would be difficult for me to do without. So, I don't know where to go next.

Additionally, I notice that Firefox is extraordinarily slow and consuming a lot of CPU. I do have a lot of tabs open (about 30) with Tree Style Tabs so I can use that many tabs; I have been doing it for years.

Can you help me with next steps?

John

First, let's find out what the problem is. Then we can think of something.

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.

If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.
