We are (for the main part) volunteers, users just like you, trying to help other users in our spare time.
Could you possibly explain your problem in detail ?
If you think I'm a 'scumbag' because I asked you not to drop f-bombs on us, but be a bit more specific about your problem instead : so be it.
Only here to help .......
So then............. great. No answer. Thanks.
Ok thank you white knight. How about the web url that hijacked my new tab page?

Thanks all of you now happy112 is sleeping comfortable
No, she's wide awake and still willing to help you, if you'd only be so kind as to explain the problem in detail, cause I find this a bit confusing :
New tab changed to opening rsearch link instead of squares. How to change from url to blank page?
What do you mean when you say that the new tab changed to opening 'rsearch link instead of squares' ?
Do you want a new tab to show a blank page ?

Could you give us a link to the page that hijacked your new tab page ? Could you provide a screenshot maybe ?

Got no answer from you - I asked you :
"Could you possibly explain your problem in detail ? "'
What on earth? I provided screenshots in the forst 4 posts you deleted, and again, Why would it matter what the URL is, I have literally been explaining this problem in detail in the title and in the subject for the last 20 hours. Yes when I open up a new tab it used to show me a blank page with a bunch of squares of sites that I frequently visit, now it's set to take me to Au RL to some search page which I did not set and eye cannot provide a screenshot for on my cell phone like I did 20 times yesterday from my computer. Regard less of what the URL is, is there any way to go into the options and change what the new tab does? Yes? No? How to?
And i will not type the url into this forum
Yes, preferably I would like a blank page or the frequent site returned. How do ypu set what your "new tab +" does? In the settings? Nope. In the options? Nope. So far I need to have a polite tea party with Happy12 to even not be deleted.
Look back at the 47 posts you deleted you'll find the screenshots

You straight up dont know how. None of you do.
Would you please give this webextension a try :
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/
I hope this does what you're looking for !
If not : maybe someone else, with better working braincells than mine, will come to your rescue .......

I've never seen your screenshots .......... hence I'm having a hard time understandig what exactly you're talking about (sorry !)
It really is not difficult to understand.
When I click the plus sign (+) on the tab bar to open a new tab, it used to open a page with my pinned bookmarks in a squared pattern.
You've taken a role as some sort of support with firefox browser, you cannot possibly be lost so far Tell me where I lose you here now.....
Now, instead it takes me to a url search.Rlink.whogivesashite
Substitute this url for facebook.com, or youtube.com, it shouldn't matter since you clearly don't know.
I want to change this. In the options it no longer gives me the ability to set my new tab page. It only lets me change my homepage, which yes a single brain cell more could tell the difference. Like 3 days ago I didn't set out to be an internet jackoff cussing at you.
There is no answer. I've downgraded to previous version already because I need my computer to work. I work all day as work for pay. I provide a service for a fee. I can't sit around all day figuring out why UPdates to any program, app, service constantly DOWNgrades experience.
How about there are plenty people with big boy or big girl pants that can just answer a question from someone that's pissed before they delete their posts and get called mad names. Honestly. Delete this post if you want to and then straight up BAN my email, again. Fine. If someone wouldnt have deleted the post where I called firefox shite then I would never have called your mother and sister names.
In conclusion, do not sit here and act like "oh I'm a volunteer I'm helping my community with --" go build a house for the homeless, here, you actually aren't helping, you're trolling. You are a douchey hall monitor. I figired out how to fix my problem. Glad you ARE volunteering because you certainly should not get paid for sitting there deleting posts. No one answered anything. I can see my whole conversation in the profile, and so can you. So you are not volunteering any time to me, someone responded with reference to my deleted posts proving they'd seen the original post. You are a liar. It isn't inflammatory to the community moderators, it's calling you out for being a douchebag in the first place. Normal people get upset when stuff straoght up BREAKS. This product, whether free or paid, is broken.
That webextension I gave you a link to : that doesn't do what you want ?
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/
I've tried to be polite and friendly, tried to help you - but all I'm getting from you is more verbal abuse.
I know that you're frustrated and upset, but please, don't take it out on people who are only trying to help.
From the reviews on that add on I can see that it is supposed to do what you intended it to do for me . I wouldn't know that works for me because I've already uninstalled and re installed at previous version from before they broke it, however, if that is the only solution to a 3rd party beside mozilla and myself having access to change a default action on my browser, by adding on another program to just bandaid hide some malicious advertisement hidden background running bs on my pc instead of getting rid of it. In most cases, the url that it's changed to gains visitors and generates revenue for someone, other than me, other than mozilla, other than happy112.. I am not interested in contributing to this as I said phantom website gaining traffic only to have another 3rd party additional app masking that page from being displayed by RE-RE-DIRECTING away from it. No thanks.
You could download Firefox 57 and get the 'old' New Tab page back (if you want, of course) :
Type in the address bar about:config (press Enter) (promise to be careful, if asked)
Type in the search bar and look for the preference :
browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.enabled
and set its value to false
If you want the New Tab page to be your home page you can do the same with this preference :
browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.aboutHome.enabled
Then close and restart Firefox.
Would that work for you ?

Couldn't let it go and been thinking that maybe one of your add-ons may be the culprit, like in this thread :
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1157850
Your system details don't show the add-ons you have installed (if at all) - but if you have any : would you take a look at them and disable the one(s) that look unfamiliar ?
