How to customize mac trackpad gestures in Firefox Quantum browser?

Hi, I've been having some issues with how Firefox Quantum 58.0.1 responds to the finger gestures on my macbook pro trackpad.

Normally, I appreciate the integration of scrolling up and down a page with two fingers, for example. But I've been having the frustrating unwanted response that if I swipe right or left with two fingers (which is normally useful to scroll horizontally if the page is wider than the browser displays) Firefox will interpret that gesture to go back one page or forward one page.

I have lost work multiple times on online forms or editing interfaces because of this unwanted gesture command--how can I customize what my gestures do in Firefox? It is not in Preferences and another help question (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1189142) seems to indicate the need to go into about:config...

Please let me know if there's any user-friendly preferences interface to customize these gesture settings, or if not, how to do it by going via about:config.

Thanks.
