I believe the solution may be to wait until Blue Mail is available on PC which it will be. Only time will tell.

I think the solution is to understand sync is a client server thing. You phone app is a client. Thunderbird is a client. So you need a server to actually manage the sync process. With calendars this process is called caldav. I have no idea what caldav server you may choose to use. (I use googles calendar) so my phone and Thunderbird sync via the google calendar... but your choice is up to you, all you need is a provider that supports caldav and that is not anything Microsoft (homail, live, msn, outlook etc)
