today on July 12th I opened FireFox and it erased my entire previous browsing session, why?

I will never know, however i had a backup from July 1st.

Yay, right? I could just restore the July 1st one right?

Well I followed the available instructions and deleted all the .jsonlz4 files, renamed sessionstore.jsonlz4 to sessionstore.old and renamed upgrade.js-20170628075643 to sessionstore.js as most instructions I found told me to.

Then I opened up FireFox but to my dismay it didn't restore my previous browsing session that from the new sessionstore.js file.

It created a new sessionstore.jsonlz4 file and completely ignored the .js sessionstore file?!

I so thought "Maybe I should just replace .js to .jsonlz4 and everything will work out fine right?" Wrong, when I changed it from sessionstore.js to sessionstore.jsonlz4 it did load some of my previous browsing history but ignored most of it!?

Whats going on!!!!

Hi Dafox, sessionstore.js was obsoleted with Firefox 56 so I don't know why you have one from July 1st. Unless it's July 1, 2017.

Anyway, I think the larger issue is that Firefox 56-61 are likely to exhaust the other available files first, so you need to hide them. Could you take a look at my lengthy reply in this thread:

All tabs lost after upgrade from FF 56 to FF 61, I have sessionstore.js, it is ignored.

Note that you need to place the renamed sessionstore.js in the main profile folder.

Did you rename the sessionstore-backups folder as well?

That upgrade.js file is from last year June (20170628) and may not be compatible with current releases.

Don't you have a more recent upgrade file?
