How to make bcc the default address option - needed for class privacy
I'm a teacher, and there are very strict privacy rules regarding email. I regularly have to send class emails to all parents, and I need to use BCC. I have on more than one occasion nearly sent out an email to TO rather than BCC, which would be a breach of privacy. I've been using the excellent the "Use BCC Instead" addon, but this is no longer supported. Is there another way to set the default address to BCC? This is very important to me, as school takes privacy (especially in regard to students) very seriously.

You could use the 'Contacts Sidebar' in the 'Write' window. This already has the functionality to select a Mailing list or separate names and with one click only create Bcc.
To enable 'Contacts Sidebar': 'View' > select 'Contacts sidebar' or toggle the view using F9 key
If you have a 'Mailing List' set up, you could select the address book, then select the name of the Mailing List and then click on 'Add to Bcc' button.
Or if you prefer to choose names separately, you can use the same method. To select several names, hold down 'Ctrl' key whilst left click to select (highlight names) then click on 'Add to Bcc' button.
Another alternative you may like to consider would be to use an addon called 'Mail Merge'.
You create an address book (not Mailing List) which only contains those particular contacts.
Create a template (save in templates folder)
Mail Merge sends one email to each person as a separate email, so it uses the TO field. It can be personalised using the address book data.

There is an add-on, ALL To CC BCC, that you might find useful. It adds a toolbar with two buttons: one to change all recipients to Cc, the other to Bcc. If you made a habit of always clicking the Change BCC button, it might prevent accidents.
This add-on is working in TB 60.3.1 (see picture), but to install it first open Tools/Options/Advanced/General/Config. editor and double-click the preference extensions.strictCompatibility to false, OK to close Options. To install, drag the Download Now button and drop it onto Tools/Add-ons/Extensions in TB.
