Hello Guys, Time after time gmail would uncheck the POP enabled box in settings (use to occur often in past), this results in Thunderbird saying "no new messages to download". When checking the box POP enabled I want to download messages that were missing since the last update, however it starts downloading all messages from gmail server because there you have 2 options only; 1/ get new emails only from present date (so Thunderbird skipped few days and not possible to say download from date: X) 2/ download all emails from server (this way it starts downloading from first email so creating duplicates) For a long time this problem disappeared and it was there for a long time. I forgot how to deal with it so I started googling why Thunderbird stopped downloading my new messages. Haven't found help then I remembered to check that box, it was unchecked, I changed that but now I remember the annoying duplicate issue which come with this. I don't wish to download years of emails from day 1 as duplicates. Please somebody advise me how to have all my emails in Thunderbird (I only like my filters in Thunderbird and I don't use any feature from gmail) organized by the filters into folders yet avoiding duplicates or how to remove the duplicates that are 100% identical.

Please, is there any tool that would search for 100% identical duplicates and remove them?

Thanks in advance, Gihon

If gmail disable pop again, you could have a look at the 'recent' mode which may offer you a better option than downloading everything. Worth trying. Recent mode shows your last 30 days of emails from Gmail. Some info at this link: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/7104828?hl=en
