How do I turn on or install the General tab? I want to use the Config-Editor to change mail.strictly.mime from false to true. If I cannot get to the Config-Editor, can I edit one of the Linux Thunderbird files to make this change. I get ?? instead of spaces in emails. Using TB 60.6.1 in Ubuntu 18.04.02. Thanks for help. Keazen oplossing

The Edit/Preferences/Advanced window has separate tabs for General, Data Choices, Network & Disk Space etc., but in some versions of Linux they aren't clearly delineated. Click on the word General to show that tab with the Config. editor button.

Thanks that worked. You are correct. The so-called tabs are poorly defined.
