Hello from Germany!

I want to backup all my emails, addressbook and other settings from latest Thunderbird without the account information! Why? When I restore the data (move the profile), the account settings will be overridden and I have to use new IMAP account settings. After restore and re-enter the new correct settings again, all IMAP files are gone again... :-(

Pls help!

I try MOZBACKUP but it brings the account settings also back...

Best regards

Peter

Use this addon to export your mail as either eml or mbox. Then import into Thunderbird.

As Thunderbird intrinsically links email to accounts it is not possible to just export your mail. Likewise with IMAP, these accounts are synchronised to the server, so mail just gets deleted if the account is not set up correctly. So you have to go the long way around exporting and importing again to break the links.
