Thunderbird 60.8.0: In a few emails with attachments, the "Detach" or "Detach All" menu commands sometimes are grayed out. What can cause that? I haven't been able to figure out any pattern to it.

Yes, of course. Thanks for the quick response. I looked at one of my examples, and I see it is signed.

As a workaround, I forwarded the original email to myself, detached the attachments from the forwarded email (to give Thunderbird a chance to replace the attachments with pointers to the detached files on disk), and then deleted the original email from my mailbox.

I'm doing this to reduce the size of the mailbox on the IMAP server, since my on-disk archives are easier to keep organized.

I recognize the pointers to the detached files will be lost when I change computers, create a new Thunderbird profile, or use a different email client. But that's preferable to keeping copies of the files on the IMAP server.

Thanks again.
