How do I fix Firefox suddenly thinking I'm in the USA when I'm in the UK? Tried changing language with no effect.

more options

All of a sudden when I browse on my Samsung S9 I'm getting myself directed to USA websites or 'this does not ship to USA' I'm in the UK! Tried changing the language to UK. Search says UK and it still happens. I'm using Android 9. Firefox Version 68.2.1 with DuckDuck search engine although I did switch over to Google search to see if that made a difference, it didn't.

Looks like someone else had this problem 3 years ago, here's the post: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1116417. Hopefully it helps!

The solution:

"Hi Linuss & olddivedog If you are still watching this.

The default DuckDuckGo DDGis loosely based on Yahoo searches and like most search engines it has settings to change the search results. Above your webpage search results and next to DDG's own search bar is an icon with a dropdown list to Filter by Region, use that to select United Kingdom, the icon then switches to a Union Flag with a slider to toggle the filter on and off.

Other alternatives are to specifically add other search engines.

Add or remove a search engine in Firefox
Note whatever search engine is set to be used in the Search bar is used in all of Firefox's searches See Search with the Firefox Address Bar
Change your default search settings in Firefox

Note also you may install a en-GB version of Firefox. One of the things you will then notice is that not all language versions of Firefox have the dictionary installed by default so go to the add-ons and search for a British dictionary.

https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-48.0.2-SSL&os=win&lang=en-GB { That will paste in to the address bar, but is not a clickable link as it will change over time, and not be the OS everyone needs.)
