Firefox unchecks "Ask to save logins and passwords for websites"
Every time I reboot my computer, Firefox unchecks the "Ask to save logins and passwords for websites" checkbox and as a result, saved logins do not appear. It is annoying and inexplicable. The logins aren't lost, but I shouldn't have to recheck the checkbox every time I start the computer. Is this a "feature" to force me to use an account to make passwords transferable by storing them in the cloud?

Hello regeraghty,
Stab in the dark, but could it be that the Trend Micro Password Manager is installed on your system ?
If so : that could be causing this problem, and (unless you're using this software) you could remove it from Windows Control Panel.

"Hello"
My operating system is windows 10 pro and my Firefox browser is up to date. My system is about 2 years old, and there have been no changes in the operating system, aside from necessary updates, since I first set it up.
Every time I close Firefox, the "Ask to save logins and passwords for websites" box becomes unchecked. When it is unchecked, all of my saved login information is unavailable. So, I must recheck the box every single time I open Firefox. This could be multiple times per day since I am prefer to close windows I'm not using, especially when running Matlab scripts. It's been happening for several months now, and it's really annoying.
Are you using a password add-on or program?

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

No. The only plugin which could possibly affect it is Adblock Plus. The only other software I can think of which might be affecting it is Trend Micro Maximum Security.

Thank you. This appears to have been the cause. Note that I didn't specifically install it and I have never used it, but it looks like it actively interferes with the ability to store passwords even if you don't use it. I removed it using "Add/Remove Programs" and restarted, then checked the checkbox and restarted again. The checkbox is still checked. It looks like this is a feature of the Trend Micro password manager even if you don't use it. :( I think the password manager is installed automatically by Maximum Security. I hope this is helpful for others.

Hello regeraghty,
You marked your own post as Chosen Solution instead of AMAN ARYAN's post.
Would you be so kind as to rectify it ?
You can do so by clicking on the "Undo" button and then mark the post that gave you the solution to your problem.
Thank you in advance !

I also thanked Aman and provided a great deal more information, which is why I felt that my post would help someone in the same situation a bit more. It wasn't my intention to claim that I had solved it. Do people get brownie points for providing answers? I don't mean that sarcastically. I'm genuinely curious, because if they do, then it means more to mark the post which led to the solution. Anyway, I changed it.
Nobody gets "brownie points" - I honestly thought that you meant to mark Aman's post and inadvertently marked your own (happens all the time, you see).
But you've got a good point : your post might be very helpful to others, so go ahead and put the Chosen Solution mark back on your post !
