Hi, When I open a new tab the cursor appears in the adressbar. I want the cursor in the searchbar. I think after the last update it changed ... the cursor always was in the searchbar ... now not anymore. I cannot start typing in the adressbar because the google adress remains visible ... I first have to remove that adress before I can start typing.

Help .. please.

You could try changing from the "New Tab Homepage" extension to the "New Tab Override" extension which has an option to control where the focus is placed on the new tab.

Thanks for your suggestion ... it changes something, but now the word 'google' remains in the searchbar ... meaning that I cannot start typing immediately. Also there is no cursor at all ... I must "wake" the cursor up.

Hmm, that doesn't sound right. Is your new tab page set to Google, and the option is to put the cursor in the page? As in the attached screenshot (Shift+F12 to open that page)? It should go into the search box in the page.
