Amazon is pinned as a Top Site and cannot be unpinned!

more options

I never use Top Sites, but now Amazon is suddenly pinned as a Top Site and clicking the "unpin" option doesn't do anything! As a result, each time I use the address bar, the first option it gives me is Amazon. Is there ANY way to unpin it?

I refuse to give that awful human of a Jeff Bezos and his Amazon any more exposure than it already has, and have it normally blocked. If Firefox FORCES me to give attention to them, then I have no other choice to move away from Firefox after years and years of using it.

Keazen oplossing

You can check this pref on the about:config page.

  • browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.topSiteSearchShortcuts.havePinned

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

For all still having the problem. For me worked:

1) open "about:config" 2) search "amazon" 2.a) edit "browser.newtabpage.searchTileOverride.amazon.attributionURL" and delete content of string 2.b) edit "browser.newtabpage.searchTileOverride.amazon.url" and delete content of string 2.c) edit "app.normandy.startupExperimentPrefs.browser.newtabpage.searchTileOverride.amazon.attributionURL" and delete content of string 2.d) edit "app.normandy.startupExperimentPrefs.browser.newtabpage.searchTileOverride.amazon.url" and delete content of string 3) search "pinned" 3.a) edit "browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.topSiteSearchShortcuts.havePinned" and delete content of string 3.b) edit "browser.newtabpage.pinned" and delete content of string

3) attention: could unpin other of your pinned sites, if you have any.

Maybe you need to delete the amazon-site from topsites afterwards because it seems that it pops up again on first place if you don't delete it.
