On rebooting my computer (Mac, OSX 10.13.3), Thunderbird was automatically updated to v78.4.0, but the data migration has failed, and as a result, Thunderbird can not connect to any servers. Even the release notes page fails to load. The first several entries in the Error console are below. Opening is safe mode did not help.
