Passwords and User IDs

I received a message while on Firefox this morning asking if my Firefox app was running slow. The message said to download a fix that would speed up my Firefox without losing my user ids and passwords, and other critical info. Well, I opted for the download fix. All of my passwords and user ids were wiped out. I have tried to get Firefox to remember them again, as I use them. However, each time I ask Firefox to remember my user id and password, it does not do so...so the next time I log into Outlook, for example, I have to reenter my E-Mail address and password. Not much of a fix at all! I was better off without "the fix." What can I do?

Sorry to hear about this problem. Are you sure there was a download -- if you check your download history (Ctrl+J), can you figure out what it was and where it came from?

If it wasn't a download but a message suggesting to Refresh or Tune-up your Firefox, your old data should be on your Windows desktop in a folder named Old Firefox Data. Do you have that folder?

Before taking further action, I suggest exiting out of Firefox and doing a regular shutdown and restart of Windows to release file locks and complete any pending updates.

Then we can suggest copy/pasting a few files from the old folder to your current one, but there are a lot of details, so in a later reply.
