Started yesterday March 1st. Linux Mint Firefox 86 Brother HLL 2300 printer

Was working fine day before. Went to print and it stops after (it appears) to start sending to the printer. Pops up an error message. Run diagnose and it returns with "The printers state message is "Filter Failed"

Prints fine with any other browser of software.

I have tired all the reset printers instructions on here. Including editing the config file.

Does a test print fine. Never worked right.

I am going to mark this as solved even though it is not. I had to reinstall the OS because of an un realated issue. It works fine with the install.

Hmm, I don't know what filter it is referring to.

Could you test whether either of these make any difference:

(A) Using the "Print using the system dialog..." link on the new print experience

(B) Reverting to the classic print experience through the following steps:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste tab_mo and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the print.tab_modal.enabled preference to switch the value between true (new experience) and false (classic)

(4) If there is another preference named app.normandy.startupRolloutPrefs.print.tab_modal.enabled and it's set to true, you can double-click that one to switch it to false as well. If you do not have that one, no need to create it.

Any difference?

I had already tried "Print using the system dialog..." Which reminds me, it was my default till this started. No idea why it changed either. Have not installed anything or done anything different. Well no, I did update Firefox now that I think of it.

Others made no change.

Baffling

For me on openSUSE I can watch the journald logs from the time I turn on the printer, to the time I send a test print job.

What happens when you try to do a print test?
