Thunderbird for Mac
Hi One of my older laptops has v. 45 on a MacBook which has Snow Leopard 10.6.8
I recently changed web hosts keeping the same server settings except for the inbound and outbound setting. I notice in my profile mail directory that the name didn’t change to the new host. However all mail is there from the old and new host.
Is it safe to leave the directory name alone or should I set up a new mail account which would hopefully yield two directories?

IF moving to another computer, I suggest moving the entire profile. TB has a profile manager that makes that setup go easily. Then, TB would pickup on the other computer right from where you left off on old computer.

My assumption is you have a POP account. True? There should be no need to change, as it seems to be working fine. My assumption also is that you terminated the prior account, so setting up a new account would require an account. Please confirm your actual setup. Thanks.
My old account’s mail folder in the profile was cp15.machighway.com. This account has been terminated.
The new account has different server settings which is mail.transcorp.com. I didn’t set up a new account…just changed the server details.
I assumed the mail folder in the profile would update to mail.transcorp.com but it did not. Is this because it contains mail processed through the old account? Are you saying I should just leave it alone and not change it manually? Thanks
Yes it is a POP account (sorry)
The important items are the names of servers, not the name of the account. SInce you have the servers properly defined, the name isn't key. If possible, could you post a photo of the screen you're viewing that shows the old name? I ask that only to ensure we're on the same page. BUT, the fact that everything is working properly is proof that no change is needed.
Here you go…
Btw, what are the .msg files for? For example, if I wanted to move the inbox to another computer running the same mail client, would the inbox.msg file need to be moved with it?
