I really like the Firefox web browser. What I hate is that when I go to a specific website, and start typing, the cursor ends up in a "find" box at the bottom of the page. Is this normal? Is it possible to specify the cursor to go to the URL? Thanks Doug

You can disable the "find as you type" feature via the settings page.

  • Settings -> General -> Browsing -> Search for text when you start typing

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window
