My browser this afternoon updated to 112.0.1. Prior to the upgrade I was watching 9now.com.au. Post the upgrade the 9now pages will no longer show the controls or login boxes.

login.nine.com.au now shows a complete white page.

Devtools indicates there are almost no network queries being issued in comparison to edge.

To test I spun up a VM that had firefox 111.0 installed with the above web site working. I let firefox upgrade to 112.0.1 and it stopped functioning again. I downgraded to 111.0 again and everything works again. Seems 112.0.1 is breaking it.

I have solved the immediate issue and found the real culprit. Appears that the manner in which firefox is handling certificates has changed between versions. Accessing these web sites with both versions provides a grey shield in regards to protection. Turning this on or off did not alter the web site appearance. I installed firefox nightly 114a which interestingly gave me a pop up regarding the certificate being untrusted. This appears to have been replaced by my antivirus performing scanning of the https connections and replacing the cert. Temporarily uninstalled my antivirus and the web pages work as expected in 112. I just needed 114a to provide that hint because 111 worked fine. Guess now the question becomes why are these untrusted certs being utilised. Thats another day.......

I just downloaded 112.0.2 and it also breaks login.nine.com.au.

A refresh of firefox does not solve the issue.

Appears that 112 has an issue with my profile. I need to completely delete my profile for nine to actually work with 112. With 111 there is no issues with my profile. Rather painful upgrade experience....

This is on a VM with no extensions and no bookmarks....seems no way around the breakage.

New profiles do not correct the problem. This appears to be a more fundamental issue with firefox.

Uninstalling 112, deleting the profile and reinstalling 111 appears that every thing works perfectly. If you then upgrade to 112 and try to keep the old 111 profile (although it is completely empty) results in these web pages no longer functioning. Trying to use the default 112 profile results in the pages not showing login details and a completely blank page. Refreshing firefox does not result in the web pages being displayed. Disabling protection does not assist either. Reinstalling 111 and pointing the profile to the 112 profile on the surface works but you can not actually login to the site and it continuously displays the schedule can not be loaded.

Reverting back to 111 and everything works but I can not see how to get a working profile. However, 112.0.1 and 112.0.2 definitely have a bug.

and trying to take the 112 profile back to 111 breaks 111 as you would guess. Seems there is no way to get firefox to work any longer with nine.com.au. Tried as much as i can with playing with profiles. Short answer is 111 works fine but 112 breaks it. Once updated to 112 appears you are stuck and no way of going backwards other than wait for some one to fix this. In the mean time i guess its is off to edge as a browser.

Better add 7plus.com.au to that list of broken streaming sites as well by the looks. It no longer can get past the first page either. Tried in a blank VM and the same answer. Now this forces me to a different browser. Edge on the same 2 machines works perfectly.

You can check for issues with Total Cookie Protection.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content.

  • click the shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection

You can check the Web Console for relevant-looking messages about blocked content.

You can try these steps in case of issues with webpages:

You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Settings).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> [X] Cached Web Content -> Clear

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the Default System theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

Anti-virus software usually adds a policy to import root certificates from the Windows certificate store to prevent such certificate issues when they hook into the Firefox internet connection.
