Thunderbird gets hung and I need to reboot SOLVED caused by McAfee
I have submitted 2 questions on having to reboot the computer because thunderbird hung. This usually affects my main gmail account. I just discovered a way to get out without rebooting. I went to task manager and found there were 3 thunderbird processes running. (Is that normal?) I ended the third process and thunderbird quit. I restarted it and it was no longer hung.
When it is hung, there is a blue line at the right hand bottom of the page showing it is trying to do something. It hangs if I end Thunderbird and restart it. I am running Windows 11 that was upgraded from my preinstalled windows 10 computer. I keep the OS up to date.

I saw from a post on the McAffee forum that the latest version of McAffee has finally fixed the problem. Thanks for giving me the correct answer. I had been trying to delete all my old mail trying to fix it and it turned out that it was McAffee. I just quit thunderbird and restarted it with no problem. YAY! Kudos to you and thank you thank you thank you!

Asking again and again is rarely successful. A dearth of answers usually means no one has an answer for you.
I have just quickly looked at your previous postings and personally I would suggest you uninstall the McAfee product and see if you still have an issue. It has been causing problems in Thunderbird (that I know of since 2012) because it keeps locking file in the Temp folder and scanning the files Thunderbird is opening and closing in it's profile folder causing what is called file contention, so Thunderbird hangs waiting for McAfee and McAfee hangs waiting for Thunderbird essentially.
At the very least you should place an exclusion in McAfee to prevent it scanning in the Thunderbird profile folder while the application is running.
Thunderbird is a multi process application and in task manager multiple instances is quite normal. I have 6 right now and often see 10.
