My server used to be centurytel. Now the server settings are centurylink. I am unable to send emails. I have been using POP. I even changed to IMAP, but either way when I test my server configurations, I get errors that those configurations do not exist in the Thunderbird data base.

Ex : Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to outgoing server (smtp) was lost in the middle of the transmission. Try again.

Centurylink verified my server settings and I can send and receive from webmail.

What to do?

Richard

Do you have antivirus scanning mail? Try disabling that function. It was what was causing me to have almost identical lost connections. I changed antivirus to Microsoft defender built into Windows and have not looked back (and it saved me over $100 a year)

Thanks I'll try that. I'm not sure if my antivirus is scanning my email, but..... Maybe I'll have to go back to Defender.
