Video of the issue

If i open a link to redirect to an app, let’s say wikipedia, it will redirect fine. When i switch back to Firefox, the mobile version of the link i clicked on will be loaded instead of just displaying search engine search results where i clicked the wikipedia link. (Admin note: edited to fix formatting issue)

Another thing that happens is if i click on the link, still being wikipedia, get redirected to the app, then close out firefox, the next time i open firefox, it will redirect me back to the wikipedia app.

This issue I have been having is not just related to Wikipedia, this is for any other link that may open a related app I have installed on my phone.

Maybe I wasn’t wording my original post correctly, but, I searched on reddit to see if anyone else was also having this problem and I found one post, and someone from i assume y’all’s team posted a comment with a link to this github page

https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/firefox-ios/issues/19865

So it looks, based on that link, the behavior i am experiencing is a bug but a fix will come in the next update, which I am happy to see.

Thank y’all for your help.

Hey cmguy416,

I found this which I quote below:

The app is currently not supposed to open universal links in other apps when private browsing is enabled...

Can you check if you're on private browsing mode or not?

We do have this bug report for those who are using private browsing but it seems that a fixed was landed in version 125. You may want to update your app to see if that fixes your issue.

Hi, I checked before i submitted my report to see if i had the latest update, and i still do. What i hadn’t done until right now is just deleting the app and reinstalling, but the same behavior persists.

In that case, that must be the default behavior, indeed. Unfortunately, you can't disable this in the normal mode, so if you don't want to open universal links in other apps, you may want to use Private Browsing in Firefox for iOS.

Hope that helps!
