I'm running Firefox 3.6.9

Now any website that uses javascript is unresponsive. Sites include the BBC i-player (no videos or radio), WE7.com (no music whatsoever). I cannot access my yahoo email. In fact virtually nothing seems to be working any more. I've checked in 'Tools' and javascript is enabled. I've also run java update to make sure I have the latest version. I've recently replaced Vista with 7 as my OS.

I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'm totally stumped as to what to do and have resorted to using Google Chrome where all the above-mentioned sites work fine.

I have been very loyal to Firefox for a few years, but this problem is turning my head.

Any ideas?
