The ID fill-in no longer offers a remembered Id when clicking in the entry space. I checked all settings in security and privacy, and they are still say to remember passwords (I have no exception sites), and I do not have it clear history when closing. FF 3.6.12. All trouble shooting info has been copied into the requested area.

Do you still see the names and passwords in the Firefox password manager?

Did you try to double click in the name field?

  • Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode
  • You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
  • To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"

Well, for whatever reason, it is now working fine again. I changed nothing in the process, other than having to enter the ID(s) manually rather than clicking on the offered choice(s) on a few web sites visited.

I'm not sure if I rebooted or not when the problem 1st appeared (I almost always do that as a matter of course), but it is working after this mornings boot up.

The list of stored IDs for each website under "Tools/Options/Security/Saved passwords" always had the information - never got deleted.
